Today we are continuing with our Christmas message series. Today’s message is the second in the series and is about Mary’s visit to Elizabeth. Having heard that her old aunt Elizabeth was six months pregnant, Mary visited her. In recording the visit between these two women, Luke helps us to see easily overlooked aspects of the birth of Christ. Luke records how John leaped in Elizabeth’s womb and she exclaimed with a loud cry when she heard the greeting of Mary. And he also records Mary’s song in response to it all. Today’s sermon explores the rich theology that Luke is teaching from this important visit.
