Hope in Gloomy Times

December 18, 2016 Speaker: Tshombe Godet Series: Sunday Gathering Standalone

Passage: Isaiah 9:1–7

These are dark, desperate, and discouraging days. Many are shocked and distressed at the savage violence in our land. Others are distressed and stunned at the raging immorality in the nation. Then, some are stunned and disheartened at the brazen materialism in our country. All of these evils as well as many more can lead a person to grow disillusioned and lose hope. While the unbelieving world seeks and craves for real hope in gloomy times, it can never attain what it craves. But the Christian—and the Christian alone—has a solid, real, and permanent hope in gloomy times. This morning, we will examine the foundation of the Christian’s hope in gloomy times from Isaiah 9:1–7.
